This enjoyable 8 week evening program will:

        ~  explore the social context for the rise of Modern

            European art from the late 1880's through to the

            mid 1900's;

        ~  de-mystify the 'isms' of the period;  and
   
        ~  introduce the ávante garde artists who influenced

            the period, such as Manet, Cezanne, Picasso, Braque,
           Matisse, Chagall, Kandinsky, Miro and others.

       If there is sufficient interest, the program will include

       a visit to the National Gallery in Canberra.
