31ST ANNUAL ART EXHIBITION 2009:

This year we had 4 judges who worked together very successfully and they were:


Liz JENEID -   a practising artist living in the Illawarra, taught visual arts for 20 years and is a University Fellow at Wollongong. As well as teaching textiles and visual investigation in the faculty of Creative Arts, she was Director of the Long Gallery for 6 years. Liz has had 6 solo exhibitions, and travelled extensively, participating in group exhibitions here and abroad, including the tapestry Triennale in Poland, Denmark and Japan.
Liz’s work is found in the Powerhouse Museum, Art Gallery of NSW , University of Washington, Seattle USA, to mention a few. In 2010 she will be artist in residence at the Vermont Studio USA



Leonie WATSON  - an Artist and teacher, she has been a finalist in the Sulman and Blake Prize and the Fishers Ghost Award at Campbelltown. Leonie is  a sessional Lecturer in Painting, and Tutor in Art Theory at the University of Wollongong ,and teaches Painting and Art History at TAFE, West Wollongong. Her Masters thesis was published under the title “Collecting the Self : And the Ambiguous Body”. Leonie is currently writing a doctoral thesis on “The Body in Still Life Painting”.

 

 

Dr Kurt BRERETON  - Is a visual and digital media artist, writer and academic. He is currently Adjunct Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast and teaches art at West W’gong Tafe. In 2005 his book “Hyper Taiwan: Art Design and Culture” was published. In 2008 a monograph on his recent art career titled ‘Luscious’, was published by Lakeside Arts USA, in conjunction with a solo touring exhibition of his paintings and videos in New York. His next solo exhibition will be at the Sara Roney Gallery in Sydney, next year.

 


EDWARD Del VILLAR -  a Kiama resident, and KAS member, judged our young people’s works of art. Edward has Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours.  Edward won 1st prize this year in the portrait section at the Royal Easter Show. Visual artist, illustrator and animation artist, he teaches Life Drawing Classes weekly at the Coachhouse, and, in a few weeks, he will become a proud father,
