Paul is an Australian artist who started painting in 1991. He specialises in Australian seascapes and European landscapes and urban scenes. He is interested in the effects of light and specially the interplay between light and shadow that turn ordinary evryday scenes into visual poetry. Living near the ocean much of his work features seaside locations. Lonely windswept dunes, sweeping beaches and cobalt blue skies with soaring clouds are, in his opinion, as much a part of Australia as the outback. In recent times his interest has turned to foreign locales. The warm light, colour, shadows and old world atmosphere of Venice, Rome, Nice and other places providing a new source of inspiration.
