March Workshop:

Free and Easy Mixed Media

with Joe Penn and Lesley O’Shea

Following a very successful demonstration this year Joe Penn and Lesley O’Shea have agreed to hold a one day workshop on Sunday 25th March 2012. Those who attended the demonstration last May will remember an afternoon of fun and banter as Joe, using a limited palette produced a lovely landscape.

The workshop will involve producing urban and rural landscapes using a variety of dry and wet media. Working on half sheets of watercolour paper Lesley and Joe will use step by step demonstrations to build layers of tone, colour and line. The main structure and design of each piece of work will be the application of dramatic, dark tones using watercolour.

Colour washes will establish broad areas of colour which will be developed by the use of drawing with charcoal and hard pastel to create energy and movement. Both keen drawers, Joe is well known for his loose tonal drawing where his pen/pencil never leave the paper while Lesley likes to dabble in all manner of drawing and painting implements, using a layering of tones, colours and textures Lesley and Joe will provide photographic material to work from and individual demonstrations will be given by both tutors.

The cost of the workshop will be $70 for members and $80 for non-members.
